Countywide hardness runs 15 to 20 grains per gallon on imported water from the Colorado River Aqueduct and State Water Project. Coastal blends around La Jolla and Pacific Beach vary a little; inland well water in Poway, Ramona, and Alpine adds iron and sulfur. We test first, then design.
Common questions
Is basic testing really free?+
Yes. A hardness reading takes 5 minutes and we do it before recommending any system.
Do you sell more than needed?+
No. If your water does not need a full filtration setup, we tell you.
How long does a full panel take?+
Lab panels typically return in 5 to 10 business days.
Where does San Diego's water come from and why is it hard?+
About 80% is imported from the Colorado River Aqueduct and State Water Project. Both are mineral-heavy sources, which is why countywide hardness runs 15 to 20 grains per gallon.
Is my well water different from city water?+
Yes. If you're in Poway, Ramona, Alpine, or parts of East County on well water, we run a full lab panel first. Wells often add iron, sulfur, or elevated TDS on top of hardness, and the system design is different.
